Another Announcement
I'm adding a little something to this month's sales contest
So, this is an idea I’ve been kicking around for a couple of weeks, and I figured if I don’t try it out now (or now-ish; so call it soon) then I never will.
First thing’s first: this will not affect the Reading Project posts at all. They will keep going at the same pace that I’m currently managing to maintain. All this will mean is there will now be twice as many posts as there were.
I don’t want to ramble on forever here, so very briefly: I have fallen out of the habit of regularly watching movies. Most of my online writing, and writing in general, has been about films, but I’ve lost the passion not only to write about them, but to even watch them. I do not like this. The other thing is I own a lot of movies that I have never seen. I blind buy movies a lot less often now than I used to, but the damage has been done.
The plan is this: every time a Reading Project post goes up, within a day or two, I will write a second post reviewing two of the films from my collection that I haven’t seen before. I won’t be able to structure my choices in the same way I have the literature posts, because my organization scheme for my movies is all over the map. Not to me, but instead of explaining it all to you (i.e. boring you), I’ll leave it at that. All I’ll add is that I am going to try to keep it broadly alphabetical, but — and this is the one example of my scattershot organization I’ll give you, just to give an idea of how this will go — for instance all my Criterion Collection films are separated from the gen pop physical media shelves, as are all of my box sets. So those will be approached not quite as alphabetically, but those will more than likely be folded in as my whims dictate. I may find a better way to structure this as I go along. This also may not last very long, if it becomes too much of a hassle.
Anyway, the other thing you’ll need to know is that the free-to-all Reading Project posts will be paired with free-to-all Movie Project posts, and exclusive to paid subscriber Reading Project posts will be paired with for-paid-subscriber Movie Project posts.
Simple enough, I hope. Anyway, to goose myself into action, I have picked the first two movies. I didn’t put a lot of thought into these, just so’s you know.
And here they are. I’m just going to post the images with no further comment, as at this moment I have no further comment to add.
And the natural second part of this double bill…
See you dorks later.

This post is the latest in what will turn out to be a very long series of essays about my year of reading, from 2025 to apparently the end of time. For more details about this project, please read this post.

Very excited about Ash Is Purest White!
I'm excited! I love your film writing, but understand why you don't wanna waste it on Letterboxd.
